There are simple changes you can make in your everyday life that can help limit your pet's exposure to cancer-causing agents and toxins which can suppress his or her immune system. These suggestions should be lifetime changes for the health of your cancer pet as well as yourself and any other pets in your home. This list is just a small sampling of changes you can make.

  1. Avoid household chemicals--try natural, homemade cleaning products instead.

  1. Don't use lawn fertilizers or pesticides.

  1. Feed your pet human-grade foods with no chemicals and few carbohydrates, including fresh fruits and vegetables.

  1. Titre your pet instead of automatically vaccinating.

  1. Avoid the application of flea control products containing chemicals and administer heartworm prevention every six weeks instead of every four (talk with your vet first).

  1. Don't expose your pet to secondhand smoke.

  1. Supply fresh bowls of filtered water.

8. Spay or neuter your pet.
